…what do you want from me?
I will give it, gladly.
I forgot how much Bikram yoga takes it out of me. Such a different draining than Baptiste yoga. After a Baptiste class, yes, I’m tired, but usually not in any dehabilitating way. After a Bikram class, if I don’t replenish myself properly with coconut water, vitamin water, smart water, juice, fruit, some salt, and possibly some emergen-c, then I’m in trouble. I’m relearning this lesson this week, as I get myself back into the Bikram swing of things.
Everything hurts, too. Hamstrings tight as as violin strings. Fingers sore as black-and-blue knuckles. An ear-to-toe ache persists throughout my entire body right now. And all I want is for it to go away.
The harsh truth I don’t necessarily want to face is that the only way to make it “go away” is to go back to class. Such is life, though.
To get yourself over the hill, you have to keep walking up it, no matter how many times you slide down.
A slippery slope, this life is. And a slippery, sweaty practice of working up it.
